AFRICATIME COMMUNITY GROUP

Works to facilitate the integration of Africans living in the UK and particularly in Sheffield. Provides advice and information on immigration and asylum, education, health and employment, welfare rights and housing. Runs workshops and conferences to promote the relief  of poverty, sickness, suffering and distress in Sub-saharan Africa and among African inhabitants of England.

Specific project: CONGO FOCUS - to raise awareness on the genocide and human right abuses in D R Congo and support anti-deportation campaigns for Congolese failed asylum seekers..

The Zeela Group

THE ZEELA GROUP

Community group that runs the Zeela Liberian Gospel Choir for singers aged 12 years and over. Also runs dance, drama and African drumming workshops for young people aged 8 to 18 years and a West African dance class.

 THE TRIBE OF GLADYS

A community world dance group with weekly classes for everyone of all levels of ability. The main style of dance taught is Beginners Traditional African Dance. People are welcome to join at any time and no experience is necessary.

If you are looking to join a dance class which is informal, welcoming, and above all joyful then you have found the place for you.  Tribe of Gladys dance every Thursday from 7-8pm in the Ethio Cubano Restaurant, 15-23 Arundel Gate, Sheffield S1 2PN

SHEFFIELD ZIMBABWE HIV ACTION GROUP

Group aims - :

  • to encourage the exchange of information and ideas between Zimbabwe and Sheffield in order to promote the human rights and wellbeing of people in Zimbabwe living with HIV/AIDS.
  • To provide financial and moral support to self-help groups of people living with HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe
